What Do You Do When You’re Having a Bad Day?

Like most people, I have good days, and I have bad days. Last Tuesday started out pretty ordinary. I completed my morning run, kissed my boys goodbye and then headed out to visit a jobsite.

Making design decisions can be quite daunting. There is a lot to think about. Trying to imagine how you are going to use a space before it’s built is difficult.

    NDI Gives Back, Part I

Well 2014 is more than half over.  It seems like just yesterday I was putting away the Christmas decorations, shoveling snow and figuring out which of my New Year’s resolutions I could still salvage and make happen.  I should exercise more.  I should eat better.  I shouldn’t sweat the small stuff.  Yadda yadda yadda.

Building Your Custom Home Series, Part V: Financing

Money.  This isn’t everyone’s favorite topic but when it comes to building a custom home, it is one of the most important conversations you will have.

    Integrity

When I think about the word integrity, I think of my dad.  I think about the simple principles he used to build NDI into the great company it is today.  It was never about being the biggest.  It was about being the best.  It was about seeing a client in the grocery store and wanting to approach them to say hi instead of turning the other way.

    About Jennifer Landers, NDI President

In 2001, I was leading a successful career in software sales when an opportunity came up to work for NDI.  Dad needed a sales manager and I was looking for something more.  I never thought I would work for my dad.  To say our relationship growing up was strained would be an understatement and when I turned 16, I’m pretty sure we would go days (ok maybe weeks) at a time without talking.  Can anyone relate?

    About the NDI Blog

Welcome! If you are looking for a custom builder, you will do a lot of research.  You will ask your neighbors, your friends and your family what they think.  You will Google.  You will comb through Pinterest.  You will watch HGTV.  It’s all part of the decision making process and it’s all good.  My goal for this blog is simple.  I want you to get to know me and NDI so that you can see firsthand what makes us such a great team.

Building A Custom Home Series, Part I

I thought it would be helpful to someone considering a custom home to have a resource (this blog) for the process from start to finish.  Building 40-50 homes a year for our clients, NDI clearly knows how to build a house.  What you may not know is that we also build 3-5 NDI spec houses each year, for which we source and buy the land, get the permits, design the house and then build.  We go through what our clients go through and, in doing so, have acquired a ton of knowledge to share--which is the main reason for starting my blog.
