Jen in the Kitchen: Her Go-To Weeknight Dinner

Cooking is definitely one of my passions! While I try to cook as often as I can, my busy work/life schedule doesn't always leave a lot of free to time to create a gourmet meal.

    Working With Family

When I tell people I run a family business, I get asked a lot of questions. I think people are intrigued by the idea of working for a family business. I read an article once in which the author said some of the best companies are family run and some of the worst companies are family run.

    NDIncluded

Last year I wrote a blog post about what you get for our standard base price. Builders tend to load up their model homes with optional features to show potential buyers what their new home could look like.

    Homes We’ve Built…Then & Now

NDI had a birthday this week and it's made me a bit nostalgic about the last 28 years.  I was 14 when Dad started the company and while I helped answer the phones while on college breaks, I didn't start working at NDI "for real" until 2001.

    What’s In a Name?

Names are pretty important. When Paul and I found out we were expecting our first child, we began to think about names.

    Update: NDI Gives Back

We are off to a great start with our NDI Gives Back program.  In the short time since we've launched the program, we've donated nearly 100 hours of service to various organizations and causes.  Our push to get more involved in our community has been a great success.  We even made the local paper!

Investor Series Part 2: Deciding Where To Build

One of the most critical decisions you'll make when building on spec is where you want to build.  I find that most of our investors tend to build where they live.  And that makes sense.  They already know the area, the schools and the community amenities.  These are all important things to consider.

    Timing Is Everything

How many times have you been the victim of poor timing?  Maybe it’s hitting the morning commute at just the wrong time.  Or missing a flight.  Or burning dinner.  Timing in our busy lives has become so important.  In building construction, timing is everything.

Investor Series Part 1: Deciding to Build On Spec

Have you ever considered building a home on spec? It is hard to drive around northern Virginia and not notice all of the new building going on around us.

Part 2, Meet the Team – Renee Paquet

I’m so proud to introduce you to Renee Paquet.  Renee has been with NDI since 2005.  She was originally hired on our Production Team as a Project Coordinator.  She quickly moved into Sales & Marketing and then in 2007, Renee started selling.  And she hasn’t stopped.  In 2014, Renee was promoted to Senior Sales Manager.

    Meet the Team: Shelly Cauthen

We thought it would be fun to introduce you to some of the members of our sales team through Q&A.  This is the team our clients spend the majority of their time with during the pre-construction phase.  I think it is important to know who you are going to be working with on a project like building a new home.  I’m going to start in order of their tenure and the first team member I’d like to introduce you to is Shelly Cauthen.

    Happy 2015!

I love ringing in the New Year. It feels like a fresh start, like anything is possible. Perhaps it’s the new “At-A-Glance” calendar on my desk.

    Thanksgiving 2014

Giving Thanks. Our NDI family is feeling pretty darn thankful this year as we welcomed a new baby for one team member and celebrated the nuptials of another.  We’re also on our way to finish close to 50 homes by Christmas.  Feeling thankful is an understatement.
