    Planning Your Custom Bathroom

    Planning Your Custom Bathroom

Your custom bathroom should be a place to relax and recharge from your busy life. That’s why designing it can be a little tricky… you want it to be just right! But don’t worry—when it comes to custom home design that fits your needs, we’re here to help.

Here’s how to end up with a custom bathroom that’s just right for you.

It is all about the shower!

Most homeowners will say they use their shower more than their soaking tub, so you want to make sure you plan ahead for a shower you will love! Do you need a bench or extra storage niches for all those beauty products? If you’re building to age in place, consider a walk-in shower since it’s more accessible. You will also want consider what kind of showerheads you prefer: rainfall, body spray, or handheld are popular choices.

    Choosing the right tub.

A gorgeous tub can easily become the focal point of your bathroom. You can choose a freestanding tub (clawfoot for a dramatic look, or pedestal for a streamlined design) or a corner tub. Soaking tubs are typically more popular than whirlpool tubs due to the upkeep on whirlpool tubs.

Vanities should be pretty and functional!

Make sure your bathroom vanities not only look good, but provide functionality. Lots of storage (both drawers and cabinet storage) is key to keeping your bathroom organized. You can also install an outlet or two inside your vanity to use as a charging station or power to your electric razor, hairdryer, or hair iron.

Choose flooring that works with your style.

Bathroom flooring needs to stand up to water and traffic, but it also needs to look good! Current trends are certainly all over the place, so no need to stress about what is “in”. Choose what you love and feel free to mix and match because floor tiles do not have to be the same as your shower tiles. Get creative and have fun with it!

Adding your own style can be fun!

Mixing metals is a trend we love, and we don’t see it going anywhere any time soon. We are also seeing a lot of contrasting tiles being used for shower niches for a pop of color.  And remember, when you’re making bathroom selections, don’t worry about making each bathroom its own completely unique design! It’s ok to have a consistent style or to just make each bathroom a bit different.

    Looking for some luxury?

Splurging for some luxury in your home design can be so worth it. Want to watch the news as you get ready for the day? Maybe add a tv to your bathroom. Get cold easily? Consider heated floors or even a fireplace. Think about what would help you enjoy your bathroom more, and add that. You won’t regret it!
